- Community Service Officer I at CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentEmployer: CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentExpires: 03/30/2026Purpose of Position:Under immediate supervision, incumbents in this classification work part-time during the academic periods and may work full time during break periods. Police and Parking Services is located at Placer Hall across University Drive from Sage Hall. The incumbent(s) will report to a Public Safety Officer and will patrol all campus property performing escorts, security, parking enforcement, assistance with campus events, and support of Police and Parking Services office staff.Job Responsibilities:Patrol campus property.Enforce campus parking and transportation rules and regulations.Perform community escorts for students in the evening.Assist with campus events.Assist with the completion of parking deposits.Collect funds from dispensers and meters.Perform some office duties including filing.Assist in campus emergency responses.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Ability to follow established office procedures to prepare and file routine administrative paperwork.Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and enforce established safety and security procedures.Minimum Job Requirements:Possession of current valid California drivers license in good standing, equivalent of one year of customer service or comparable experience, successful completion of background check (applicant will be finger printed), and ability to complete on-line Defensive Driving course. Undergraduates shall be enrolled for at least 6 units and graduates shall be enrolled for at least 4 units in graduate-level courses. Must be in good academic and behavioral standing with the University.
- Alternative Media Assistant at CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentEmployer: CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentExpires: 04/03/2026Purpose of Position:To assist staff supporting DASS with Alternative Media services. Students will perform a variety of specialized tasks using various software for the processing of alternative media materials, including scanning, editing, and distributing alternative media materials. This is 90% of the overall work. Additional duties include but are not limited to data entry, photocopying, filing, and inventorying. Responsibilities & Duties:Provide quality customer service and support including assisting with inquiries in person, online, and on the telephone. Assist with the conversion of textbooks into alternative media formats including scanning, zoning, proofreading, creating accessible file formats, and occasionally making audio files. Assist with the conversion of Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files into accessible documents. Work on research projects. Inventory of equipment when needed. Assist with additional assignments from DASS staff. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Candidates must be a current CSU Channel Islands student, in good academic and behavioral standing as well as have a minimum 2.50 grade point average. Good working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office including ABBYY Fine Reader, Kurzweil 3000, Excel, and Word. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting for prolonged periods of time. Be able to work during summer and winter breaks, as needed. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, maintaining a high degree of accuracy. Must be able to learn of ADA laws pertaining to the protected rights of persons with disabilities and uphold strict regulations regarding confidentiality. Candidates must have the ability to interact with the general public and the ability to form positive working relationships while interacting with diverse student populations, as well as faculty and staff. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must have strong critical thinking, organizational and analytical skills. Candidates should have a strong sense of task management, the ability to perform duties with general supervision, and the ability to exercise discretion in judgment and decision-making. Candidates must be able to work during summer and winter breaks, as needed. Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week during the semester and 35 during the breaks.A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Orientation Leaders (OLs) are essential to this experience.OLs are current CI students who serve as mentors, facilitators, and ambassadors of the university. They guide new Dolphins through orientation programming, foster meaningful connections, and help students navigate campus resources to support a successful college experience.This is a highly visible leadership role that requires professionalism, enthusiasm, teamwork, and a commitment to supporting new student transition.Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Orientation & Engagement Programs Director and Specialist, Orientation Leaders will:Represent CSUCI in a positive and professional mannerFacilitate Dolphin Pod small-group discussions and activitiesLead in-depth campus tours for students and familiesSupport First-Year and Transfer Orientation sessionsGreet, welcome, and check in new students and guestsServe as a knowledgeable resource on academic and student support servicesAssist with event day of logistics and collaborate with faculty, staff, and presentersParticipate fully in all required training sessions and team-building activitiesComplete administrative and operational duties as assignedOrientation Leaders are expected to be role models on and off campus and in digital spaces.
