The focus of work for the Black Cultural Center Student Assistant is to provide support to the campus community, assist with program development and implementation, academic development to support student success and retention, and administrative support to facilitate timely and supportive services to students. The Black Cultural Center Student Assistant i s assigned to w o r k in the Black Cultural Center, but may support any cultural centers or office in the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), if needed. Social Media Engagement Develop a social media plan with deadlines for concepts to increase followers and outreach consistent with current social media trends Assist with the management of BCC social media accounts using platforms like Hootsuite for postings Coordinate with the BCC coordinator to create and post events and educational content Organize an internal calendar of events for each semester to share with ISS staff and campus partners, where appropriate Administrative Tasks & Expectations Monitor work email accounts & cultural center messages and promptly respond to inquiries Present and serve as an informational resource on BCC programs, events, and services to all guests Communicate with supervisors and team members if there are conflicts with schedules/tasks Maintain a professional attitude and role model for students, faculty, and staff while on and off duty Remain actively engaged and consistently prepared for all meetings and trainings (i.e., staff meetings, 1:1’s, in-services, etc.) and special projects or assignments, if applicable Provide crisis intervention, emergency response, and mitigate/confront behavioral infractions as needed Mitigate or confront behavior inconsistent with the expectations of the BCC, cultural centers, and the DSA Day-to-day oversight provided by the BCC Coordinator or any cultural center coordinator in the absence of the BCC Coordinator. - Student Assistant for Teaching & Learning Innovations (TLi) at CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentEmployer: CSU Channel Islands: On Campus EmploymentExpires: 07/03/2026TLi Student Assistant Purpose of Position: As part of the Digital Learning / Teaching and Learning Innovations (TLi) team, this student assistant will work primarily in-person from the Faculty Innovation In Teaching (FIT) Studio (Solano 1201) to provide technical in-Studio support. and to advance CSUCI’s digital accessibility efforts through digital content remediation for instructional materials. The position will support sustainable, scalable accessibility capacity by supporting an internal remediation workflow, using CSU/ATI resources (including the CSU ATI Remediation Hub) and AI-assisted remediation with human quality review.Job Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position are divided into FIT Studio Support and Digital Accessibility & Remediation Support for Instructional Materials. Candidates should adopt a learning mindset and demonstrate comfort with learning new technologies quickly. This position is best for candidates with an interest in (or willingness to learn) accessibility concepts and document remediation techniques.This position also requires familiarity with Mac & Windows computers, working knowledge of collaboration software, media production processes, basic skills in web design, and experience with CI Learn and Google Docs (CI Docs). Training for accessibility remediation will be provided; however, prior knowledge and/or experience with accessibility practices is preferred.Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills, accurate and precise work habits, and the ability to work with diverse populations of faculty, students, staff, and the broader community, as well as an interest in working as part of a team. Candidates must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and must be trustworthy and reliable. Candidates should have general office work experience (previous campus office experience a plus) and the ability to deal with the general public.
