- CI Santa Rosa Island Research Station(2:14) Students at California State University Channel Islands are provided with the unique opportunity to conduct research and participate in recreation such as hiking, camping, and swimming on the 2nd largest island off the coast of California, Santa Rosa. As a member of the Channel Islands National Park, the university manages the CI Santa Rosa Island Research Station, where students from over nine majors and 16 undergraduate courses regularly study the island’s unique ecology, archaeology, and geology. The following programs have visited the research station: Anthropology, Applied Physics, Art, Biology, Business, Communication, English, Environmental Science & Resource Management, Computer Science, Mathematics and Sociology. CI has also developed STEM curriculum activities for community college, high school, and middle school students to perform various experiments on the Island.
